Most Hocking Hills cabins don't have a pool. A handful have an outdoor hot tub. Pool House Lodge has a 15×28 foot private heated indoor pool on the lower level — open year-round, temperature controlled, and reserved entirely for your group from check-in to checkout.
There are no shared hours. No other guests. No weather variable that closes it. You can swim at midnight in February if you want.
Pool specs — the short version
- Size: 15 ft × 28 ft
- Depth: 3 ft (shallow end) to 6 ft (deep end) — depth markers on the wall
- Temperature: 82–84°F, maintained year-round
- Seating ledge along the shallow side

- Temperature and humidity controlled room
- Picnic table inside the pool room
- Private to your group — no shared access
Open in January. Open in July. Open whenever.
The "indoor" part matters more than it might seem at first. Hocking Hills gets cold winters, rainy springs, and unpredictable fall weekends. An outdoor pool or hot tub shuts down or becomes uncomfortable for half the year. The pool at Pool House Lodge doesn't change with the forecast.
Groups that visit in November, December, January, and February swim every day. The pool room stays warm and humid regardless of what's happening outside. Some guests say it's actually better in winter — there's something about swimming while it's cold outside that makes the pool feel like a private resort.
The pool is accessible year-round through the lower level of the lodge. It connects directly to the game room and the accessible bathroom.
Safety setup
The pool room has auto-locking, auto-closing doors with code access — so young kids can't wander in unsupervised. The safety cover is motorized and walkable, guest-controlled, and used when the pool is not in use. The pale blue fiberglass finish makes it easy to see anyone in the water.
- Auto-lock, auto-close doors with keypad code
- Motorized walkable safety cover — guest controlled
- Wall-mounted life buoy and pool hook
- Depth markers on the pool wall
- First aid kit mounted on the wall
- Pool rules posted in the room
- Pool safety video available — watch it here
No lifeguard is on site. Groups with young children should review the safety video and pool rules on arrival.
What's provided
Pool House Lodge provides everything you need for the pool — you don't need to pack for it.
- Pool towels
- Pool toys and floats
- Goggles
- Soap and lotion in the adjacent accessible bathroom
- Hair dryer in the pool room bathroom
Accessibility at the pool
The pool area is wheelchair accessible. The game room bathroom directly adjacent to the pool room is fully accessible — transfer shower, grab bars at the commode and shower, adjustable showerhead, and a wheelchair-friendly sink. It has a second door that opens directly into the pool room, so wheelchair users don't need to go through the game room.
There is no pool lift. Full accessibility details are here.
The hot tub — lower patio
The 8-person hot tub is on the lower rear patio, just outside the game room. It's separate from the pool — guests often use both in the same evening, moving between the heated pool and the hot tub outside. The lower patio also has a Weber propane grill, dining table, swing chair, and string lights.
Who uses the pool most
Three types of groups book Pool House Lodge specifically for the pool:
Families with kids who want guaranteed swim time regardless of weather. Multi-gen groups where the pool is the one activity everyone from age 6 to 76 can do together. And winter groups — people who specifically want a cabin getaway in November through February and need something to do indoors when it's 25 degrees outside.
The pool comes up in nearly every guest review. Jason from Columbus wrote that "the pool and hot tub were amazing" and that his group ranged from age 6 to 96. Adrian from Cleveland said the photos don't do it justice and it's better in person. Jennifer's group said the pool kept everyone together for once instead of splitting off.
