Why families choose Pool House Lodge

Most large group cabins in Hocking Hills have a pool or they have accessibility or they sleep 20. Pool House Lodge has all of it in one place.

🏊 Private Heated Indoor Pool

Watching kids jump into the pool while it's snowing outside is one of those things you don't forget. Heated to 82–84°F year-round, private, no other guests. Pool details →

🛏 7 Bedrooms · Sleeps 20

Everyone under one roof. No one stuck in a hotel down the road.

Wheelchair Friendly

Accessibility wasn't something we added later — it was part of the plan from the beginning. We wanted guests using wheelchairs and anyone with mobility challenges to enjoy the same vacation as everyone else. Full details →

🌲 22 Private Wooded Acres

No neighbors in sight or earshot. Just your group, the trees, and a lot of quiet.

🥾 Private Hiking Trail

♨️ Private Outdoor Hot Tub

Outside, private, available the whole trip. Good after a long day on the trails.

🕹 Game Room

Arcade games, billiards, and more. Keeps everyone busy when nobody wants to leave.

EV Charging

Charge overnight on-site. One less thing to plan on a road trip.

🍽 Two Dishwashers

If you've ever cooked breakfast for 20 people, you already know why we put in two. Guests don't think about it until they're here — then they tell us they wish every large cabin had it.

👕 Three Laundry Sets

Three washer and dryer sets might seem like overkill. It isn't. Someone spills something, the kids need dry swimsuits, everyone wants clean towels after the pool. It all happens at the same time.

Who books this cabin

Over the years, we've welcomed all kinds of groups. Grandparents teaching grandchildren to swim. Friends celebrating milestone birthdays. Families gathering for Thanksgiving without having to book multiple cabins. We've even hosted church retreats and company leadership weekends.

What they all have in common is that they wanted to stay together — not spread across hotel rooms or separate rentals.

If you want the full picture of what's inside, the Lodge page goes room by room. The gallery shows it better than words do.

Frequently asked questions

Is the pool private?
Yes. The pool is yours only for your entire stay. No other guests have access, and there's no shared pool situation.
Is the pool heated year-round?
Yes. The pool is heated year-round and kept at 82–84°F. January, July, doesn't matter — the water temperature stays consistent regardless of what's happening outside.
Can someone in a wheelchair access the cabin?
Yes. The cabin has ramps at the front entry, a wheelchair-accessible bedroom suite with an ensuite roll-in shower and grab bars, and access throughout the main level. It was built this way from the start.
How far is it from Old Man's Cave?
About 20–25 minutes. Old Man's Cave, Ash Cave, and Cedar Falls are all close. See the plan your stay page for a full list of nearby spots.
Is there enough parking for a large group?
Yes. There's plenty of paved parking on the property — enough for a full caravan, larger vehicles, and trailers.
Can everyone eat together?
Yes. The kitchen and dining area seat the whole group. Two dishwashers, full appliances, everything you need to cook a real meal rather than ordering out every night.
Is the hot tub private?
Yes. The hot tub is outside and private. Your group, your schedule, no reservations required.
Are pets allowed?
Pool House Lodge does not currently allow pets. Please confirm at booking.
Is the cabin secluded?
Yes. 22 private wooded acres. You won't see another building or hear another group the whole trip.

Why we built this cabin

When we started planning this place, we kept coming back to one question: what would make a family actually want to spend time together?

We have a family member who uses a wheelchair. We searched for a cabin that could hold 15 to 20 people and genuinely work for her — not "there's a grab bar somewhere" accessible, but built for it. We couldn't find one. So we built it.

The indoor pool, the oversized kitchen, the game room, the hiking trail — those all came from the same thinking. Nobody should have to sit out because the weather turned, or because the cabin wasn't designed with them in mind. The ramps and the roll-in shower and the main-level accessible suite went into the plans from day one. Full accessibility details →

What's nearby

Pool House Lodge is 20–25 minutes from the main trail system. Most groups spend mornings out hiking and afternoons back at the pool. Here's what's worth knowing about the area.

Old Man's Cave

The main draw in Hocking Hills State Park — gorge trail, recess caves, waterfalls. About 20 minutes from the cabin. Gets crowded on fall weekends; go early.

Ash Cave

Ohio's largest recess cave, with a 90-foot waterfall. The trail in is paved and flat, which makes it one of the few spots in the park that works for guests with mobility needs. Full guide →

Cedar Falls

Quieter than Old Man's Cave, and a better waterfall. Most people skip it. Worth the short walk, especially if it's rained recently.

Conkle's Hollow

Narrow gorge with 200-foot sandstone walls. You can walk the flat floor trail or take the rim trail up top for long views across the hills. Two very different experiences.

John Glenn Astronomy Park

Designated dark-sky area with regular star parties. If you're here on a clear night, it's worth staying up for. The whole group can go — no hike required.

Lake Hope State Park

Lake, swimming beach, kayak rentals, and trails through Wayne National Forest. About 30–35 minutes out. Good option if part of your group wants something other than gorge hikes.
